Many people complain that natural stone floor tiles absorb dirt or start forming holes in a few years.
This should not be considered as a negative impact of natural stone tiles, as there is a way to maintain them, and we have to keep in mind that any natural product needs to be maintained.
After laying natural stone tiles, three steps must be completed to maintain the tiles, including filling, cleaning and sealing.
According to the quality of natural stone, this process must be repeated every two to five years.
The first step after laying the tiles is to fill the tiles.
All holes must be filled with filler of the same color.
Any gap between the tiles must be grout.
You need to dry the filling and grouting for one or two days.
The second step is to wash.
All tiles must be cleaned with water and soap and must be free of any dirt, grout or tile adhesive.
After washing, you must allow the tiles to dry for two to four weeks according to the season.
In the winter, it takes more time to dry the tiles, so it takes more time, in the summer, the tiles dry faster, so it is OK in one or two weeks.
The last step is sealing.
Sealing is like applying a layer of glue to the tile to protect the surface from dirt and water absorption.
Seals, however, are quite expensive;
It is worth spending some money to protect your beautiful natural stone.
There are different types of sealing agents such as invisible sealing agent, Toner sealing agent and deep sealing agent.
Depending on your purpose, you will choose the appropriate sealer.
For example, the invisible sealing agent does not change the nature or color of the tile while protecting the tile, but the color booster sealing agent will make the tile darker and bring out the color.
Deep sealing agent is used for porous natural stone such as limestone and sandstone.
Depending on the type and quality of your stone, the process must be repeated every few years.
For example, for lime and limestone, this should be done every two to three years, and for granite and marble it can be done every four to five years.
Maintenance time also depends on traffic-
For example, in areas with busy traffic, such as the food court in a large shopping mall, you will need more repair costs than in areas with busy transportation such as guest bathrooms in your home.
Natural stone tiles bring beauty and peace to your home, so it\'s worth spending a little extra money to maintain them.
